As a huge transport vehicle, double-deck buses face a series of challenges in daily driving, one of the most prominent problems being the existence of blind spots. The large body of the bus brings great vision limitations to the driver, which are mainly concentrated at the rear and both sides of the vehicle, constituting a major safety hazard in the driving process.

In the process of bus travelling, especially when turning and changing lanes, the length and height of the body makes it difficult for the driver to accurately grasp the surrounding environment in the process of operation, increasing the potential risk. This uncertainty not only affects the driver’s driving experience, but also may lead to some accidents. The scenario of passengers boarding and alighting from the bus also poses certain safety risks, as the driver cannot directly observe the situation at the door of the vehicle, and there may be potential safety hazards for passengers in the process of boarding and alighting.

In addition, due to the large blind spot at the rear of the double-decker bus, reversing becomes a challenging task. Drivers need to be extremely cautious in reversing to avoid possible collisions or accidents in the absence of a clear rear view.

To solve these problems, installing HD camera monitoring system for buses became a practical solution. The system consists of a 10.1-inch 8-Channel Video Car Monitor, 4pcs In-vehicle Cameras, 2pcs Side View Cameras, 1pcs Front View Camera and 1pcs Rear View Backup Camera. By installing cameras at key locations, especially in areas with large blind spots in the driver’s field of vision, real-time video monitoring can be provided to compensate for the driver’s lack of vision. This not only helps to enhance the driver’s perception of the surrounding environment, but also improves driving safety and reduces the risk of potential accidents. This system not only provides more comprehensive information to the driver, but also provides more safety for passengers boarding and alighting as well as reversing operations, thus enhancing the overall safety of double-decker buses.

AHD 10.1 Inch Monitor: Installed on the dashboard of the driver’s cab, the AHD monitor has an 8-split screen function, which can display the video images from 8 cameras at the same time. In addition, the system has a built-in 256GB memory card, which can record the video images from the 8 cameras in real time and play back the images in real time when needed.

Front View Camera: Attached to the front windscreen of the vehicle, it provides high-definition monitoring of the front view and recording of a wide range of driving angles.

2 Side View Cameras: mounted on the left and right rearview mirror arms respectively, with wide-angle view for monitoring the left and right side areas. Covering the possible blind zones on the left and right sides, assisting the driver to better monitor the left and right side of the field of vision, to improve the safety of turning and changing lanes.

Rear View Reversing Camera: Installed on the rear roof of the bus, used for rear blind spot monitoring, when reversing, the monitor will provide a reversing guide line to assist reversing.

4 Interior Cameras: mounted on the upper and lower decks, 2 of which can be optionally mounted on the upper deck of the bus to monitor passengers on the upper deck, and 2 on the lower deck in the upper and lower door areas. This helps to identify and resolve passenger boarding and alighting safety issues in a timely manner, enhancing the safety of passengers boarding and alighting the bus.

This HD surveillance solution provides an extra layer of security for double-decker bus operations. By solving the blind spot problem, the driver can drive better and safely, while passengers can be more comprehensively safeguarded during boarding and alighting. When an emergency occurs, the cameras in the system can be retraced to provide reliable data and evidence for accident investigation, improving the science and precision of operation management. This complete system not only provides better driving assistance for double-decker bus drivers, but also brings comprehensive safety protection for passengers and company operations.
