Safety has always been a crucial concern in the modern transport industry. Dump trucks are one of the key players in the transport industry, but they are also often exposed to hazards and challenges such as blind spots, reversing accidents and unknown road conditions. To address these issues, a suite of advanced wireless monitoring solutions has been created, designed to improve the safety and driver visibility of tipper trucks.
Table of Contents
This safe solution consists of the following main elements
2.4G Wireless Rear View Monitor: This monitor is mounted on the cab dashboard of the tipper truck, has an internal 128GB memory card and supports HD recording. It is the core of the entire system and is used to display the four camera feeds, providing real-time monitoring and recording capabilities.
4 Wireless Car Cameras: These cameras are installed at the front, rear, and left and right sides of the tipper truck, enabling all-round monitoring. Each camera has a specific location and function:
- Front View Camera: it can be optionally mounted at the highest point of the front end, it is used to obtain a longer driving view in front and help the driver to recognise the road environment in front.
- Rear View Camera: it can be optionally mounted at the highest point at the rear, it provides comprehensive rear blind spot assistance for reversing.
- Left and Right Side Cameras: it can be optionally mounted at the diagonal high points of the front of the vehicle, they are used to monitor the left and right side areas, especially to provide support when turning and changing lanes.
Trigger Wire connects to the vehicle’s corresponding power source
The monitor power cable has 4 triggers, and these trigger wires are connected to the vehicle linkage forward gear, reverse gear, and left and right turn signals. Through these connections, the system can intelligently switch the display screen according to the operating status of the vehicle to meet the needs of different driving situations:
- When the tipper truck is in reverse gear, the full screen of the display shows the rear camera feed and provides a reverse guide line, making the reverse operation safer and more precise.
- When the left turn signal is switched on, the display shows the left camera screen in full screen, helping the driver to recognise potential hazards when turning left or changing lanes.
- Similarly, when the right turn signal is switched on, the monitor switches to the right camera screen to provide additional auxiliary information.
The monitor supports a 4-split display, which would normally show all 4 camera feeds simultaneously to provide all-round monitoring. However, it can be customized to display specific camera screens full-screen by triggers through the background settings and trigger line principle.
Installation Overview
Installing this dump truck 4-view camera wireless surveillance security solution is relatively easy. Below are the general installation steps:
- Monitor Installation: Install the 2.4G wireless rear view monitor on the cab dashboard, making sure it is securely fastened to prevent vibrations and bumps.
- Camera Installation: Four wireless in-vehicle cameras need to be mounted at the front, rear, and left and right sides of the vehicle. These cameras should be mounted at high points on the front of the vehicle for the best view.
- Trigger Cable Connection: Connect the trigger cable to the forward gear, reverse gear and left and right turn signals of the car linkage to ensure that the monitor can intelligently switch the camera screen according to different situations.
- Power Connection: Connect the power supply to the monitor and camera to ensure the system can operate normally.
- Setup and Commissioning: Perform background settings as needed to meet specific monitoring needs. Test the system and make sure everything is in order.
Solutions Role
This wireless monitoring solution plays a key role in the safety and efficiency of tipper trucks:
- All Round Monitoring: With 4 cameras, the system enables omni-directional monitoring, reducing blind spots and helping drivers better identify potential hazards and obstacles.
- Blind Zone Elimination: Rear and side cameras eliminate blind zones not covered by conventional lenses, making reversing and turning manoeuvres safer.
- Safe Driving: Trigger line connections and smart screen switching functions make it easier for drivers to access the information they need in different driving situations, thus improving safety.
- DVR Recording and Playback: The monitor’s built-in memory card allows recording of camera footage while the vehicle is in motion, which aids in after-action reviews and accident investigations, providing strong evidentiary support.
- Wireless Connectivity: This solution uses wireless connectivity, thus eliminating cumbersome wiring work and greatly simplifying the installation process. In addition, you can choose different styles of cameras to meet specific needs, which increases the flexibility of the system.
